Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that Israel’s closure of the border gate (Rafah crossing), targeting aid convoys, and killing aid workers is a crime against humanity and the beginning of the “genocide” it is carrying out in Gaza.

This came in a post on the “X” platform on Sunday after he conducted an inspection visit to the Egyptian port of Arish and the Rafah border gate with the Palestinian Gaza Strip.

Fidan said in this regard: “Israel’s closure of the border gate, targeting aid convoys, killing aid workers, preventing the evacuation of patients and civilians, and causing thousands of trucks of humanitarian supplies to rot is a crime against humanity and the first stage of the “genocide” it is carrying out on the other side of the border.”

He added: “Turkey is the country that has provided the largest amount of humanitarian aid to Gaza. Our goal in being here is not to talk about Turkish aid, but to draw the attention of world public opinion to the genocide in Gaza.”

He stressed that the world must stop its silence towards the cruelty of the Israeli administration and make more efforts to ensure that aid reaches Gaza without hindrance or interruption.

Minister Fidan also stressed that Turkey, with its state, citizens and non-governmental organizations, will stand by the Palestinian people until the end and will continue to fulfill its moral and humanitarian duty.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with US support, has been waging a devastating war on Gaza, leaving more than 130,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and a deadly famine.
