Inflation in Turkey fell to 44.38 percent year-on-year in December 2024.

The Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement that the consumer price index rose by 1.03 percent in December on a monthly basis, while the producer price index rose by 0.4 percent in December.

Thus, Turkey’s annual consumer price inflation fell to its lowest level since July 2023, while the producer price index fell to its lowest level since March 2021.

It is noteworthy that the consumer price index fell to 47.09 percent year-on-year in November.

Commenting on this, Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek confirmed in a post on his account on the “X” platform that inflation recorded 1 percent in December 2024, its lowest level in the last 19 months.

He said: “Annual inflation decreased to 44.4 percent, thus decreasing by 20 points compared to inflation at the end of 2022 and 2023.”

Şimşek stressed that inflation will continue to decline, expecting it to be in line with the ministry’s target in 2025.

He explained that solving citizens’ living problems is their top priority.
