DMM denied the claim that “green and grey passport holders will pay 7 euros to travel to Europe, and those who are rejected will not be able to enter the European Union”.
This was stated in a statement on the social media account of the Communications Directorate’s Anti-Disinformation Center (DMM) regarding what was reported in some media outlets that “green and grey passport holders will pay 7 euros to travel to Europe, and those who are rejected will not be able to enter the European Union”.
The statement stated that this claim is incorrect, and that there is information on the official website of the European Union stating that 30 European countries impose “the obligation for citizens of visa-exempt countries to obtain an ETIAS travel authorization” when traveling. .
The statement emphasized that Turkey is not included in the list of countries for which travel authorization will be requested by the ETIAS system, and the following statements were made:
“The claim that Turkish passports (grey) and special (green) passports will need to obtain prior electronic approval within the framework of the European Travel Information and Authorization System – ETIAS before entering the Schengen Area is unfounded.
The ETIAS system is a “valid application for service and authorization holders who are entitled to enter the Schengen Area without a visa.” “It will not be applied to Turkish citizens holding special passports. Do not believe the unfounded claims aimed at manipulating the public.”
