The Asian Football Confederation announced on Saturday that China has withdrawn from hosting the 2023 Asian Nations Cup due to the Corona pandemic.

The federation (based in Kuala Lumpur) in a statement today commended the Chinese football officials for taking “this very difficult decision, but it is necessary to achieve the collective interests of the AFC Asian Cup.”

The tournament, which includes 24 countries in 10 cities, in mostly newly built stadiums, was scheduled to take place in June and July of next year.
