Çavuşoğlu meets the President and Prime Minister of Kosovo

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met with Kosovo President Fiusza Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti on the sidelines of an official visit to Pristina.

The Kosovar presidency said in a statement on Sunday that Osmani had held an important meeting with Çavuşoğlu, confirming the “excellent relations between the two countries.”

The statement stressed that the meeting dealt with relations between the two countries in foreign policy, defense, trade and other areas, and the current developments in the region and Europe.

During the meeting, Osmani said that the integration of the Western Balkans into Euro-Atlantic structures prevents Russia’s influence in the region and its destabilizing tendencies.

She noted the need for Kosovo and the region to join Euro-Atlantic structures.

It welcomed the explicit support of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the accession of Kosovo to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and other international organizations.

She explained that her country also needs this Turkish support in the process of joining the Council of Europe.

Later, Çavuşoğlu met Prime Minister Kurti and discussed with him ways to develop cooperation between the two countries.

Çavuşoğlu said in a tweet via Twitter that during the meeting with Kurti, he stressed the danger of the “Gülen” terrorist organization to Kosovo.
