Çavuşoğlu: Dialogue with the Taliban continues at the ambassadorial level

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said that contact with the Taliban interim government in Afghanistan is continuing at the ambassadorial level and that they want to send humanitarian aid to the country from Pakistan by land.

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu answered questions from journalists after the cabinet meeting and made statements about the agenda.

Referring to the S-400 issue, Çavuşoğlu said that the US statements did not affect Turkey’s decisions so far.

Çavuşoğlu said that at the summit to be held by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi, many topics regarding Arab countries will be discussed.

Speaking about relations with Egypt, Çavuşoğlu stated that there is no joint visit planned so far.

He stated that contact with the Taliban interim government in Afghanistan is continuing at the ambassadorial level, and Çavuşoğlu stated that they talked about humanitarian aid, food, medicine, and pre-winter needs.

Çavuşoğlu said, “Meetings were held with the AFAD Red Crescent and other related institutions.

Noting the continuing uncertainty at Kabul airport, Çavuşoğlu said there were security concerns.

Charter flights are also available, but there is no environment for regular flights yet.
