The Turkish Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Israel’s illegal military operation in the occupied West Bank and Foreign Minister Israel Katz’s statement that his government would transfer its practices in Gaza to the West Bank.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry explained in a statement on Wednesday that it is necessary to take punitive and binding measures against these Israeli actions against the Palestinian people, which completely ignore international law.

The statement added that the “genocidal policies” pursued by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government against the Palestinian people constitute a major threat to international security.

The statement stressed that countries that unconditionally support Israel must immediately abandon their position that is contrary to law and human conscience.

At dawn on Wednesday, the Israeli army launched a military operation in the northern West Bank, the largest since 2002, which resulted in the killing of 10 Palestinians and the injury of 22 others.

In conjunction with its war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, the Israeli army has escalated its attacks in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, killing 662 Palestinians, including 150 children, injuring more than 5,400, and arresting more than 10,000, according to official Palestinian data.

With American support, Israel is waging a war on Gaza that has left more than 134,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and deadly famine.
