The President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the President of the Council of the European Union exchanged views by phone.
As Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke by phone with European Union Council President Charles Michel on Tuesday night, Turkey’s Anadolu Agency reported.
According to the report, the two sides discussed the meeting of the European Union Council during the phone call.
The phone call came after Erdogan harshly criticized the European Union’s decision to impose sanctions on Turkey.
European Union leaders recently agreed in Brussels to impose more sanctions on Turkey.
European diplomatic sources say that the increase in EU sanctions on Ankara is due to Turkish exploration operations in the eastern Mediterranean.
