The Ministry issued a written statement regarding the presidential elections held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The statement stated that the presidential elections held today in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus were conducted peacefully, and read: “We congratulate Mr. Tufan Erhürman, Chairman of the Republican Turkish Party, on his victory in the elections according to unofficial results.”
The statement also expressed hope that these elections, which reflect the free and sovereign will of the Turkish Cypriots and the state heritage and democratic culture of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, will benefit the Turkish Cypriot people and the entire island.
The statement read: “Turkey, the motherland and guarantor, will continue to contribute to efforts to achieve peace, prosperity, and development for the Turkish Cypriot people, within the framework of its historical, legal, and humanitarian responsibilities and in line with the reality of the island.”
