Istanbul: Al-Sharaa Meets with US Ambassador to Ankara

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa met with the US Ambassador to Ankara and US Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barrack in Istanbul.

Turkish Foreign Ministry sources said that al-Sharaa and Barrack held a meeting in Istanbul on Saturday, without providing further details. Neither side issued a statement on the details of the meeting.

Earlier on Saturday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with al-Sharaa at the Turkish Presidential Office in Dolmabahce Palace. The two sides discussed relations between Turkey and Syria, as well as regional and global developments.

The meeting was attended from the Turkish side by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, and Intelligence Agency (MIT) Chief Ibrahim Kalin.

In addition, the President’s Senior Advisor for Foreign Policy and Security Affairs, Akif Cagatay Kılıç, and the Chairman of the Defense Industries Presidency, Haluk Gürgün, attended the meeting.

From the Syrian side, Foreign Minister Asaad al-Sheibani and other officials attended.
