Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will participate in the informal meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTU) tomorrow, Wednesday, in the Hungarian capital, Budapest.

Sources at the Turkish Foreign Ministry stated that Fidan is accompanying President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on his visit to Hungary to participate in the informal summit of the OTU.

The sources added that Fidan will emphasize during the meeting that the OTU member states are strengthening their cooperation at a time when the international system is facing difficulties in providing peace, stability, and justice.

He will also emphasize that it is always important to remember that the OTU member states are part of the greater Turkic world, and that action must be taken in accordance with this awareness.

He will emphasize that solidarity with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in the face of the isolation to which the Turkish Cypriots have been subjected for decades is a shared responsibility of the OTU member states.

The Organization of Turkic States (formerly the Turkic Council) was established on October 3, 2009, and includes Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, while Hungary, Turkmenistan, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus hold observer status.
