White House spokeswoman Carolyn Levitt said that the administration of US President Donald Trump is making intensive efforts to resolve the escalating dispute between India and Pakistan.
During a press conference held on Friday, Levitt indicated that Trump and Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Marco Rubio are closely monitoring the issue.
She explained that President Trump “realizes that India and Pakistan are two countries that have been suffering from conflicts for decades, but he enjoys good relations with the leaders of both countries.”
She added, “The President (Trump) and Secretary Rubio want to resolve this crisis as quickly as possible.” The White House spokeswoman noted that “Rubio is in constant contact with the leaders of both countries and is working to reach a resolution to this dispute.”

She emphasized that the Trump administration considers this escalation a “priority issue,” especially in light of the sensitive situation in South Asia.
On May 6, India launched missile strikes against targets inside Pakistan, including the Azad Kashmir (Afghan Kashmir) region under Islamabad’s control. This was in response to an attack that occurred on April 22 in the Pahalgam area, which killed 26 people.
New Delhi announced that it targeted nine sites it said belonged to “terrorist” organizations, while Pakistan responded that the attacks hit six civilian sites, killing 33 people and wounding 62 others.
For its part, the Pakistani armed forces announced that they shot down five Indian warplanes during the escalation, while New Delhi has not issued any official confirmation of this.
