Turkey celebrates National Sovereignty and Children’s Day today, Wednesday, as well as the 105th anniversary of the opening of the first session of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (Parliament), with various events taking place across the country.
Several events are being held on this occasion in Turkish state institutions, most notably the Parliament and the Presidential Complex in the capital, Ankara.
Turkish cities also host various events to mark the occasion, and Turks abroad, particularly in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, are celebrating it.
It is worth noting that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic, dedicated National Sovereignty and Children’s Day to the children of the world.
Therefore, the name of the holiday has been changed to “National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.”
