US President Donald Trump announced that his administration will abide by Tel Aviv’s decision regarding the continuation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza after Hamas released 3 Israeli prisoners, including an American citizen.
Trump noted in a post on the “Truth Social” platform on Saturday that Hamas released 3 Israelis before the deadline he set for the release of all remaining prisoners.
He explained that the United States will support Israel’s decision regarding the continuation of the ceasefire in Gaza, and said that Israel will now have to decide what it will do regarding the deadline set at 12:00 noon today to release all prisoners.
Trump added that “the United States will support the decision they (Israel) will make,” and regarding Hamas’s release of 3 prisoners, including an American citizen, Trump said: “They appear to be in good condition. This is different from the statement they issued last week that they would not release any prisoners.”

Earlier this week, Trump proposed canceling the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas if all prisoners in the Gaza Strip were not released by 12 noon on Saturday.
Earlier on Saturday, the Al-Qassam Brigades and the Al-Quds Brigades handed over three Israeli prisoners, including two with American and Russian citizenship, to the International Committee of the Red Cross, which in turn handed them over to the Israeli army as part of the sixth batch of the exchange deal.
On January 19, a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement went into effect, which includes three stages, each lasting 42 days, with the first to be negotiated to begin the second, mediated by Egypt and Qatar and supported by the United States.
With American support, Israel committed genocide in Gaza between October 7, 2023 and January 19, 2025, leaving about 160,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 14,000 missing.
