Thousands of people in the United States have organized protests in states against President Donald Trump’s policies towards immigrants after taking office.
According to the New York Times (NYT), protesters organized via social media platforms using the hashtag #50501, which means “50 protests in 50 states in one day”, began gathering in front of Congress and municipal buildings in the afternoon.
Thousands of people are gathering and organizing large-scale protests against Trump’s “anti-immigrant rights” policies and his decisions that canceled “diversity, equality and inclusion” practices after taking office.
The protesters also stated that they gathered against the policies that Trump followed after taking office and the “2025 Project” adopted by Republican politicians.
Democratic Congressman Carrie Rheingans, who attended the protests in Lansing, Michigan, stated that the protests were organized by “people for the protection of all humanity”, and indicated that there will be more demonstrations from now on.

While protesters gathered in Austin, Texas, holding signs that read “We as a people reject the 2025 project,” one protester was seen holding a sign that read “I am proud to be the daughter of an immigrant.”
During the protests in Minnesota, people gathered in front of the state capitol building, waving American and Mexican flags.
Trump, who decided to cancel the “diversity, equity and inclusion” practices implemented under Joe Biden in the presidential decree he signed on the day he took office, later announced that the application called “CBP One” that allows legal immigration, had also been canceled.
President Trump ordered the preparation of a facility to accommodate 30,000 people at Guantanamo Bay to keep “criminal immigrants” who entered the country illegally under surveillance, and US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the facility was “an ideal area for immigrants.”
