Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said at the ceremony held to supply natural gas to the Hafik district of Sivas that they have supplied the district with natural gas within the scope of the work that started 10 months ago.
The minister added: “We hope to use our own natural gas in 20 million homes in Turkey by 2028. Our goal is to make our country energy independent under the leadership of our president in the Turkish century.”
Bayraktar pointed out that they aim to increase the number of natural gas subscribers in the district to 1,250, and stated that natural gas will be used throughout Hafik.
Recalling that Sivas city center received natural gas in 2005, Bayraktar said: “There are only two districts in Sivas that do not have natural gas and we hope to announce good news about them today at our conference.”
“85% of our population has access to natural gas today”
Noting that natural gas is compatible with comfort, luxury, clean air and the environment, Bayraktar said: “It is actually one of the most important projects of the AKP’s 22-year rule.”
“When the Justice and Development Party came to power, our president set a goal and said: ‘On that day, we will bring natural gas that is available in only 5 provinces to every province, every corner and every corner of Turkey.’ He said that women will have access to this convenient and environmentally friendly fuel. Bayraktar said:
“This was a big goal because natural gas was available in only 5 provinces at that time. When you think about Turkey, it is now 81 provinces and it is a difficult geography with an area of more than 780 thousand square meters. So, it is not easy to bring it.”

In line with the goal and vision set by our President, “Thank God, today there is natural gas in 81 provinces, 908 settlements and 222 organized industrial zones in Turkey. 85 percent of our population has access to natural gas today.”
Minister Bayraktar stated that they aim to bring natural gas to the very few parts of Turkey that have not been visited.
Pointing out that natural gas is imported and supplied to homes, businesses and industry, Bayraktar said: “In 2016 with the National Energy and Mining Policy, “We as Turkey will produce ourselves. If there is, we will search for it and find it, and when we find it, we will extract it from the ground and bring this natural gas to our homes and industries.”
He added, “We have now produced more than 71 thousand barrels of oil per day in Japar.”
Minister Bayraktar confirmed that the extracted natural gas has become suitable for use in homes.
Bayraktar pointed out that they are now providing the produced natural gas to 3 million households:
“Thank God, our production is increasing day by day. We hope to use our own natural gas in 20 million homes in Turkey by 2028. Our goal is to make our country energy independent under the leadership of our president. In the Turkish century, we discovered natural gas in the Sakarya gas field, which was previously associated with terrorism, and now produces high-quality oil in Turkey, exceeding 71 thousand barrels of oil per day. “We have arrived. Our goal is to make our country energy independent and to preserve the foreign currency we pay abroad for our energy.
Referring to the energy subsidies provided to citizens, Bayraktar said the state covers 65 percent of natural gas bills.
