Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said that Turkey has made a qualitative leap in TV broadcasting using the Turksat A5 satellite.

This came in his speech on the occasion of the 4th anniversary of the launch of the Turksat A5 satellite.

Uraloğlu added: “With the increase in the satellite capacity provided by Turksat A5, there is an increase in high-definition broadcasting. We have made a qualitative leap in TV broadcasting using Turksat A5.”

He explained that with the operation of Turksat A5, Turkey has begun to provide TV broadcasting and data transmission services in a wide geographical area such as Europe, the Middle East, North and South Africa, and the Mediterranean.

He stated that Turksat A5 is often used in international maritime activities.

The Turkish minister added: “The use of Turksat A5 services by many companies, most notably the Saudi-based satellite operator (Arabsat), has led to significant export revenues.”

In early January 2021, Turkey successfully launched Turksat 5A, Turkey’s first fifth-generation satellite, into space from Cape Canaveral, USA. With the launch of Turksat 5A, Ankara sought to include all regions extending from the Turkic-speaking republics to China in Asia, in addition to Africa and Europe, within its coverage area, which means that millions of people around the world can communicate via Turkish satellites.
