Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made a written statement regarding the new season trips of the Eastern Express Tourist Train, reminding that the first trip was made on May 29, 2019.
Uraloğlu stated that 71 thousand passengers have traveled by the train so far, and that approximately 10 thousand 500 travel enthusiasts will be served in the new season that will start on December 23.
Uraloğlu pointed out that there will be 60 trips, 30 departures and 30 returns in the 2024-2025 period, and said, “The trip will start in the Ankara-Kars direction and will end with the train service in the Kars-Ankara direction on March 2, 2025.”
Uraloğlu stated that the flights to Ankara-Kars will be carried out on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and Kars-Ankara flights will be carried out on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and said:
“The flights to Ankara-Kars will start at 13.45 from the historical Ankara Train Station, and will take 2 hours and 30 minutes in Erzincan, and there will be a 4-hour break in Erzurum, and the flights to Kars-Ankara will start at 21.05. With a 3-hour and 30-minute stop in Iliç, 2 hours and 30 minutes in Divriği, and 3 hours in Sivas, it will give passengers the opportunity to explore these cities.”

Uraloğlu pointed out that they aim to activate the tourism potential of the region with the touristic Eastern Express and made the following evaluations:

Kars-Erzurum Express Regional Tourism Train will also start operating Referring to the fact that the Kars-Erzurum Regional Tourism Train will also start operating, Uraloğlu said:
“Due to the great demand for the Eastern Express Tourist Train, the Kars-Erzurum Express Regional Tourism Train, which we will put into service, will make 24 trips. The train in question will have a capacity of 291 passengers and will operate on Saturdays and Sundays from January 18 to February 23, 2025.”
