Turkey’s National Movement Party leader Devlet Bahçeli announced on Tuesday a proposal for a new constitution consisting of 100 articles.
This came in a press conference held at the party’s headquarters in the capital, Ankara.
Bahçeli explained that it is now a national duty to agree and prepare a new constitution for the country.

He also said, “We have completed the preparation phase of our proposal for a new constitution consisting of 100 articles, and it is now a national duty to agree and prepare a new constitution for the country.”
He continued, “All political parties participating in the drafting of a new constitution for the country must be free from prejudices, doubts and suspicions.”
He pointed out that the centennial of the Turkish Republic should be crowned with a new civil constitution befitting the recent development in the country.
He pointed out that the political parties that will evade participation in preparing the country’s new constitution under various pretexts, will pay the price for this at the ballot box.
And he added, “Constitutions are not texts that cannot be changed or amended. Rather, the necessary amendments and changes must be made in a manner consistent with the spirit of development taking place in the country.”
