Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his government viewed the tourism sector as a strategic field for the country and took “revolutionary” steps.
This came in a speech he delivered at the opening of the “Rixos Tersane İstanbul” hotel near the Taksim area in Istanbul.
President Erdogan stressed that Turkish governments in recent years have always stood by investors and supported everyone who creates jobs and contributes to strengthening the Turkish economy.
He added: “We have always said, there are no local or foreign investors for us, there are investors who create added value for the Turkish economy.”
He added: “It is our duty to pave the way for our business community, we stand by all entrepreneurs.”
He pointed out that tourism is similar to the construction sector in that it feeds and supports many sectors and creates jobs.
He stated that Turkey has the strongest tourism potential in the world, whether medical, cultural, religious, winter or natural tourism.
He explained that they have been working since the Justice and Development Party came to power (in 2002) to expand tourism to include 12 months of the year.
