Erdogan: We will establish a fish industry in the international seas

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Turkey aims to establish a fish industry in the international seas.

Erdogan’s announcement came in a speech by opening the fishing season and water neighborhoods 2024-2025 in the Yeni Qabi area, Istanbul.

President Erdogan affirmed that Turkey is making unremitting efforts to protect the interests of its fishermen and the fishing sector in international forums related to this sector.

He added: “We aim to establish a fish industry in the international seas.”

He pointed out that Türkiye signed new fishing agreements with more countries annually to expand the patch of fishing rights for Turkish fishermen.

Erdogan explained that Turkey signed fishing agreements with 5 new countries this year, bringing the number of countries with which Ankara signed fishing agreements to 15 countries, in the forefront of African countries.

Turkey also reached Erdogan to the final stages of talks to sign hunting agreements with 12 other countries.

On the production figures last season, Erdogan stated that the amount of seafood and river food production exceeded for the first time a million tons in the 2023-2024 season.

The fishing season in Turkey begins from September until mid -April.
