Turkey exported $96,628,000 worth of pistachios to 82 countries around the world during the first half of this year.
According to data from exporters’ associations in southeastern Anatolia, Turkey’s pistachio exports between January and June 2024 increased by 76 percent compared to the same period last year.
The value of Turkish pistachio exports in the first half of last year amounted to 54 million and 854 thousand dollars, and it rose in the same period of the current year to 96 million and 628 thousand dollars.
The total value of pistachio exports from Türkiye to 96 countries last year amounted to 151 million and 568 thousand dollars.
Italy ranked first among the countries that import most pistachios from Turkey with 21 million and 579 thousand dollars, followed by Germany in second place with 17 million and 2 thousand dollars, and Kazakhstan in third place with 4 million and 500 thousand dollars.
The head of the Commodity Exchange Council in the state of Sanliurfa in southern Turkey, Isa Qazildemir, said that the significant increase in pistachio exports during the first half of this year was satisfactory for farmers and exporters at the same time.
Qazildemir pointed out that pistachios are considered a strategic product for Turkey, and that most of the pistachio trees in the country are located in the states of Sanliurfa and Gaziantep.
