Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, announced on Thursday that the Fatih ship had begun new exploration work in the Goktepe-2 well in the Black Sea.
This came in a post by the minister on the X platform.
The Minister provided information about the new exploration work, saying: “We are sailing to new discoveries in the Black Sea, where the Fatih drilling ship has begun excavation work in the well, which we called Goktepe-2, in the Sakarya gas field area.”
He added: “While we will increase production on the one hand, we will continue our exploration in new fields on the other hand.”
The exploration ship “Fatih” is 229 meters long and 36 meters wide, while its total weight is 51,283 tons.
On October 17, 2020, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the discovery of an additional 85 billion cubic meters of natural gas, bringing the total gas reserve discovered in the Sakarya field to 405 billion cubic meters.
