The number of tourists participating in thermal balloon flights in the Cappadocia region in central Turkey last August reached 88,244.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said in a statement on Saturday that the balloons conducted 4,241 flights last August.

And participated in the balloon flights with 88 thousand and 244 tourists.

Cappadocia also hosted two million and 545 thousand and 33 tourists in the first eight months of this year, setting a record in the number of visitors, according to a statement from the state of Nevşehir.

The region is characterized by one of the most exotic and beautiful landscapes in the world and has been classified by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization “UNESCO” as a World Heritage Site.

The region is most famous for its “chimneys of fairies” or “devil tables”, which are stones in the form of columns topped with rocks that look like mushrooms and were formed naturally as a result of the influence of wind and weather factors on the volcanic rocks that abound in the region.

Balloon tours are spread in different countries, but Cappadocia is the center of hot air ballooning in the world due to the presence of the largest number of balloon flights throughout the year.
