Erdogan and Orban inspect antiquities returned by Hungary to Turkey

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban inspected artifacts illegally smuggled from Turkey to Hungary and returned them through diplomatic initiatives last February.

Erdogan and Orban toured an exhibition in the capital, Ankara, where more than 400 artifacts were returned to Turkey by Hungary through cooperation between the two countries and diplomatic initiatives.

Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy accompanied the Turkish President and Hungarian Prime Minister’s tour.

On February 25, 2021, Hungary returned to Turkey 413 artifacts of Anatolian origin, including parts of a war chariot, furniture, marble statues, and coins.
