Turkey: The cowardly attack on Al-Kazemi’s house targets Iraq

On Sunday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned the attack on the home of Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, noting that the terrorist attack aimed to harm Iraq’s sovereignty and stability.

In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned in the strongest terms the “terrorist attack that targeted the home of Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, with drones, on Sunday morning.”

“We hope that the perpetrators of this cowardly attack, which clearly aims to harm the sovereignty and stability of Iraq, will be identified as soon as possible and brought to justice,” the statement added.

He stressed that Turkey will continue to stand by the Iraqi people and its state and its war against terrorism, regardless of its source.

And at dawn on Sunday, the Iraqi army announced that Al-Kazemi had survived an “assassination” attempt through an attack by a booby-trapped drone that targeted his residence in the Green Zone in Baghdad.

For days, Iraq has been witnessing political tensions due to the rejection of the preliminary results of the elections by armed Shiite factions.

Which took place on October 10, where they say it is “fabricated” and demand a manual recount of votes.

On Friday, Baghdad witnessed confrontations between security forces and demonstrators against the preliminary results of the early parliamentary elections.

As a result, 125 people were injured, including 27 security personnel, according to the Iraqi Ministry of Health, while an independent medical source confirmed the death of a demonstrator.
