A Palestinian committee said on Monday that Israel has refrained from exporting and importing some goods to and from the Gaza Strip through the Kerem Shalom crossing.

The Presidential Committee for Coordination of Goods (official – affiliated with the Crossings Administration) said in a statement that “the Israeli side has retracted its permission to import 34 types of electrical appliances and their accessories.”

She added that “the occupation prevented the export of wooden handicrafts from the Gaza Strip abroad.”

On Thursday, Israel informed the Presidential Committee that it had allowed the import and export of goods to and from the Gaza Strip starting on August 9, and Israel did not issue any comment on the reasons for the ban.

With the beginning of the latest aggression on May 10, Israel closed the crossing completely and then reopened it after the ceasefire.

However, it imposes severe restrictions on the movement of imports and export, which exacerbates the already deteriorating living and health conditions.

Kerem Shalom is the only commercial crossing for Gaza, where more than two million Palestinians live, and has been besieged by Israel since Hamas won the legislative elections in 2006.
