Turkey rescues 50 migrants left by Greece in Merig River

The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the rescue of 50 irregular migrants left by Greece on a small island in the Merig River separating the two countries.

The ministry said in a statement on Friday that Greece had tried to deport a group of migrants towards Turkish territory by illegal means.

It explained that the Greek forces confiscated the belongings of the migrants and left them on a small island in the Merig River without food and drink.

Also, it pointed out that the Turkish teams rushed to rescue the 50 migrants from the island where they were stranded.

It also published scenes in which migrants recounted the details of the ill-treatment they were subjected to at the hands of the Greek security forces.
