UN creates new unit to bridge global climate events gap

The United Nations World Meteorological Organization, the United Nations Development Program, and the United Nations Environment Program have established a new international mechanism.

According to the UN statement, the mechanism called the Systematic Monitoring Funding Facility (SOFF) will operate in line with the objective of “financial support for adaptation efforts.

The Emergency and Security Fund (SOFF) will address the lack of data on climate and weather monitoring in LDCs and Small Island Countries.
