Turkish Red Crescent distributes food parcels to Pakistan flood victims

The Turkish Red Crescent distributed 150 food parcels to victims of floods caused by monsoon rains in Pakistan.

Red Crescent operations director Anil Koca Pal said they have provided 150 food parcels to flood victims in Quetta city in Balochistan province.

Koca Pal added that the Turkish Red Crescent is carrying out relief work in various Pakistani cities and that their support for flood victims will continue.

The National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan announced that the number of victims of the devastating floods that hit the country since mid-June has risen to 1,545.

The monsoon season in Pakistan usually brings heavy rains but this year was the “worst” in years.

And at the end of last August, Minister of Climate Affairs of Pakistan Sherry Rehman revealed that “a third of the country’s area has been completely submerged” in the wake of the unprecedented floods that the country witnessed.

She explained that everything “turned into a single ocean” where there is no dry land to draw water into.
