On Wednesday, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Swedish ambassador to Ankara to the ministry’s headquarters, against the background of a program on state television that showed content offensive to Turkey and its President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Diplomatic sources said that the Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned the Swedish ambassador, Staffan Herstrom, to the ministry’s headquarters, and expressed its strong dissatisfaction over a program on Swedish state television “STV” that showed content offensive to Turkey and President Erdogan.
“It was emphasized that expressions that crossed the border and offensive scenes (on Swedish TV) directed against President Erdogan and Turkey cannot be accepted,” the statement said.

He added, “Such a publication cannot be justified in the context of freedom of expression and the press.”
