Turkey suspends flights with Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands and South Africa

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca made a statement on his Twitter account, announcing the suspension of flights from Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands and South Africa to Turkey. Within the scope of combating the Coronavirus epidemic.

The minister explained that the decision to suspend trips with the United Kingdom, Denmark, the Netherlands and South Africa to Turkey was taken temporarily.

Minister Koca’s statement came as follows:

“With the mutation of the Coronavirus, an increase in the rate of transmission of infection in the United Kingdom has been reported. On the instructions of our President, and in coordination with our Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, a decision has been taken to temporarily suspend flights from England, Denmark, the Netherlands and South Africa to our country.”

‘The measures are being implemented in full coordination’

Fahrettin Koca also shared information about flights en route due to the risk of mutations originating from England.

Minister Koga stated that the rules for coronavirus testing and quarantine will be applied to passengers.

Flights between our country, England, the Netherlands, Denmark and South Africa have been suspended until another assessment.

Meanwhile, the mutual evacuation of the citizens concerned could take place in a controlled manner.

The General Directorate of Civil Aviation also issued a statement regarding the suspension of flights from 4 countries.

“The flights between Turkey, England, the Netherlands, Denmark and South Africa have been suspended until another assessment, and at the same time the concerned citizens can be evacuated in a controlled manner,” the General Directorate of Civil Aviation said in a statement.

Turkish Airlines: Our passengers will not be victims

Turkish Airlines (THY) Director General Bilal Ikçi has made statements on his social media accounts about the suspension of flights to Turkey from 4 countries.

“We ask that none of our passengers be in a hurry about ticketing transactions. None of our passengers will fall victim to ticket processing,” Ikçi said in his statement.
