In his statement on Tuesday, Somali Army Chief of Staff Oduwa Yusuf Rageh said that Turkish support is of great importance in the struggle against the terrorist Al-Shabab movement.

Somali soldiers trained by Turkey are actively fighting against al-Shabab.

And last August, Turkey provided the Somali army with 22 armored vehicles to help it maintain security in the country after the decision to withdraw the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM).

Next December, the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) forces will withdraw so that the Somali army will take over the tasks of maintaining security in the country.
