Turkey.. 128 asylum seekers rescued on western coasts

On Tuesday, Turkish coast guard teams rescued 128 asylum seekers, and Greece forced them to return to Turkish territorial waters, in the western states of Izmir and Aydin.

The Turkish teams have received information that asylum seekers are onboard a life raft off the coast of “Safari Hisar” in Izmir, according to a statement issued by the Coast Guard Command.

Coast guard teams were able to rescue 40 asylum seekers after Greece pushed its life rafts towards Turkish territorial waters.

Also in Izmir, patrol teams rescued 18 asylum seekers, as Greece pushed their rubber boat towards Turkish territorial waters off the coast of “Karahburun”.

At the same time, the Turkish Coast Guard received information that a group of asylum seekers was found off the coast of “Gosh Adasi” in Aydin.

Immediately, the patrol boats headed to the area, rescuing 70 asylum seekers who were on a rubber boat and a life raft pushed by Greece towards Turkish waters.

The asylum seekers were referred to the Directorate of Immigration after completing the legal procedures against them.
