Macron calls for the withdrawal of Turkish and Russian forces from Libya

According to Al-Jazeera satellite channel, French President Emmanuel Macron called for the withdrawal of Turkish and Russian forces from Libya.

Macron said in a press conference after the virtual summit that the return of stability in Libya will require the withdrawal of foreign forces, including foreign fighters, the Turkish army and Russia.

Macron added that European Union leaders agreed to give Turkey a chance to show its goodwill and willingness to re-align with the European Union.

Macron said that if Turkey cooperates with the European Union, it will see ready proposals for a rapprochement between the two sides.

Otherwise, as Turkey continues to be hostile, we will be ready to take steps back.

The new Libyan president visits Turkey

According to local news agencies, quoting Reuters, the Turkish presidency issued a statement last Thursday evening in which it announced that the new president of the Libyan Presidency Council will travel to Ankara today (Friday) to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Presidential Office said in a statement that the President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Muhammad Al-Manfi, and a member of the Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, will pay a working visit to Turkey to discuss bilateral relations and steps to develop cooperation. And the exchange of views on regional and global issues.

The new Libyan government was sworn in on March 15th.
