Inbound tourism to Dubai decreased by 67.2 percent

On Monday, official statistics showed a decline in inbound tourism to the emirate of Dubai during the first quarter of 2021.

According to the statistics of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai (governmental), the number of tourist arrivals during the period recorded one million and 260 thousand visitors, compared to 3 million and 840 thousand visitors in the first quarter of 2020.

According to the data, India was the largest source of visitors to Dubai in the first quarter of 2021.

With the equivalent of 320 thousand visitors, followed by Russia 99 thousand, France 46 thousand, Egypt 41 thousand, and the United Kingdom 40 thousand.

The tourism sector, which is very important for the emirate, has been dealt a major blow by Dubai’s tight restrictions on entry for foreigners.

And before it resumed receiving tourists from July 7, amid a slow recovery due to health concerns and the emergence of new strains of the virus.

According to the data, the number of international tourists who visited Dubai during last March reached 449,800 tourists.

The number of foreign visitors in Dubai decreased by 64 percent during 2020 to 5.51 million visitors, compared to 16.73 million visitors the previous year.

While the share of the capital (Abu Dhabi) is 18 percent, and the rest is distributed among the rest of the Emirates.
