Erdogan confirms mobilizing all capabilities to control forest fires

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed on Thursday that the country has mobilized all its capabilities to control and completely extinguish forest fires in the country.

Sources in the Turkish presidency stated that Erdogan is making extensive phone calls with the Ministers of Agriculture and Forestry, Bekir Pakdemirli.

The Minister of Environment and Urban Planning, Murat Kurum, and Foreign Affairs, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, who are present in the areas experiencing forest fires, are constantly informed of the developments and ongoing work to control them.

The Turkish President had mercy on those who lost their lives in the fires, wishing safety for the citizens residing in the affected areas.

He stressed that the Turkish state stands by its citizens affected by the fires and works to compensate for their losses.

Earlier on Thursday, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority “AFAD” announced the death of 3 citizens as a result of the fires, and indicated that 122 people were affected by the smoke, and 51 of them are undergoing treatment.

This morning, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bakan Pakdemirli told reporters that 31 fires that broke out throughout the country have been brought under control, indicating that efforts are still continuing to control 10 other fires.
