In a statement after the end of his term, Bozkir said that he assumed the task of managing the General Assembly of the United Nations at a very difficult stage.

He added that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu gave him great support during his tenure as President of the United Nations General Assembly.

He pointed out that the United Nations, despite having all the capabilities, its structure and way of working are not suitable for the conditions of the twenty-first century, and that it is a very slow mechanism.

Bozkir stressed the need to strengthen the role of the United Nations General Assembly, noting that it had succeeded in holding meetings on Syria, Palestine, and Myanmar.

He stressed the need to respect the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan, and to work to provide appropriate conditions for women’s participation in life in Afghanistan.

And he added: “There may be daily developments in Afghanistan, so we have to be wise, and we have to wait and see how the Taliban will act.”

And he added: “We have to wait to see to what extent the Taliban wants to establish relations with the international community, and I think it is too early to talk about what will happen in Afghanistan after a month.”
