Erdogan and Sharif discuss the flood disaster in Pakistan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif the latest developments in the flood disaster in Pakistan and Turkish relief activities.

This came during a telephone conversation between them on Sunday, according to a statement published by the Communications Department of the Turkish Presidency.

The statement stressed that Erdogan informed Sharif that Turkey is closely following Pakistan’s struggle with the flood disaster and that it has mobilized its capabilities to provide the necessary support in line with the brotherly relations between the two countries.

Erdogan said that the Turkish people also stand by their Pakistani brothers.

He explained that Ankara will continue to do its utmost to heal Pakistan’s wounds against the backdrop of the disaster.

In turn, Sharif expressed his thanks to the Turkish state and its people for the support provided to his country.

Since the floods swept large areas in Pakistan last June, Ankara has sent at least 12 planes, 4 trains and dozens of trucks loaded with aid to the flood victims due to Turkish official statements.

The catastrophic floods have killed 1,391 people since June 14, according to Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority.
