Turkish automotive sector increases its market to “billion $”

The number of countries where the Turkish automotive sector, which broke a record with its exports reaching $37 billion in 2024, achieved sales of $1 billion or more in 2024 increased from 9 to 10.

According to data from the Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters Association, the automotive industry, which closed 2023 with foreign sales of $35 billion 4 million 230 thousand, increased its exports last year by 6 percent to $37 billion 211 million 661 thousand.

The automotive sector, which broke the highest record for automobile exports in the history of the Republic and ended last year as the country’s export leader, had a 16.5 percent share in foreign sales.

More than $1 billion was exported to 10 countries, with 8 EU member states, the United Kingdom and the United States being the markets where automobile exports exceeded $1 billion last year.

Germany, the main market for the sector, continued to maintain its first place, followed by France in second place.

There was a 25 percent increase to the United Kingdom, which ranked third, then Italy became the fourth country in terms of exports with an increase of 9.5 percent.

Spain became the fifth country with an increase of 3 percent, and Poland became the sixth country with an increase of 4 percent.

Slovenia saw an increase of 33 percent, ranking seventh among the countries with the most exports compared to 2023, and Belgium came in eighth place with an increase of 6 percent.

The United States ranked ninth with an increase of 19 percent, and Romania ranked tenth with an increase of 33.5 percent.
