The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs offered its condolences to Moscow for the deaths of 16 people in the crash of a plane carrying paratroopers in the Russian Federation of Tatarstan.

In its statement on Sunday, the Foreign Ministry expressed its grief over the casualties in the plane accident in the Republic of Tatarstan.
“We offer our condolences on this tragic accident to the families of the victims and the government of the Russian Federation, and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” the statement said.
Sixteen people were killed and 6 others were injured in the crash of an L-410 plane carrying 22 people, most of whom were paratroopers, according to the Russian Ministry of Health.
The President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, said when inspecting the site of the accident that the plane had crashed due to an engine failure.

Mourning was declared in all of Tatarstan on 11 October over the incident.
