Turkey and Serbia are providing mutual travel through personal cards

Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said that his country is working with Serbia to provide mutual travel between citizens of the two countries through personal cards without the need for passports.

On Friday, Ersoy held a joint press conference with the Serbian Minister of Trade, Tourism, and Communications Tatjana Matic in the Serbian capital Belgrade.

Ersoy pointed out that the Turkish side came with new proposals to the Serbian authorities to strengthen cooperation relations between the two countries.

He added that the Serbian authorities welcomed the Turkish proposals, including providing mutual travel between citizens of the two countries through personal cards without the need for passports.

The Turkish minister pointed out that the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding last month on mutual recognition of vaccinations against the Coronavirus.

And he indicated that all these measures are aimed at overcoming travel obstacles between the two countries, adding that Turkey is the third preferred destination in Serbia.

He said Turkey aims to take first place in Serbia’s favorite destinations.

Earlier, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic held a closed-door meeting with Ersoy at the presidential residence in the capital, Belgrade.

It is noteworthy that Turkey has agreements on freedom of movement through identity cards (without the need for passports) with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, and Azerbaijan.
