The occupation closes the headquarters of the Agricultural Work Committees

On Wednesday, the Israeli army closed the headquarters of the General Administration of the Agricultural Work Committees in Ramallah in the central West Bank for 6 months, and arrested the Director of the Health Work Committees, Shatha Abu Odeh, from her home in the same city.

Eyewitnesses said that an Israeli force “stormed the headquarters of the agricultural work committees (non-governmental) in the Satah neighborhood after its doors were removed.”

Witnesses added that the Israeli army “closed the main door with solid metal panels, and suspended a decision declaring the closure of the headquarters for 6 months immediately.”

The Agricultural Work Committees is a “prominent” Palestinian civil organization that has branches in various regions of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

According to the company’s introductory brochure, it works in “agricultural development”.

In a related context, “the Israeli army arrested Shatha Abu Odeh, director of the (non-governmental) Health Work Committees, during the storming of her house in Ramallah,” according to eyewitnesses.

The witnesses added that the Israeli forces “confiscated a vehicle belonging to the Health Work Committees before they withdrew from the place.”

On June 9, the Israeli army closed the headquarters of the Foundation’s General Administration for 6 months, under the pretext of “security justifications”.

The foundation said in a press statement at the time that an Israeli force stormed its headquarters in Ramallah, destroyed its contents, and confiscated computers.

Until 07:00 GMT, the Israeli army did not issue any statement about the closure of the Agricultural Work Committees Institution.

 Or the arrest of the Director of the Health Work Committees.

It is noteworthy that the two areas that the Israeli army stormed into in Ramallah are within Area A.

According to the “Oslo” agreement for the interim peace between the Palestinians and Israel, they are under Palestinian security and administrative control.
