The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) organized a Ramadan Iftar program in the Albanian capital, Tirana.

The program was attended by Turkey’s Ambassador to Albania, Pilot Kagan Atay, Mahmut Çevik, Vice President of TIKA, Mustafa Atta, the agency’s coordinator in Tirana, and Andy Seferi, Deputy Mayor of the capital, as well as representatives of Turkish and Albanian associations.

In a speech during the event, Çevik congratulated the attendees on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

He pointed to the strength of historical relations between the Balkan region and the Ottomans, especially in Albania, where today it still embraces a lifestyle that exists as a result of interaction in many fields such as language, literature, music and urban style.

He explained that TIKA has continued its activity in Albania since 1996 in order to continue the existing relations and interaction between the two countries, as it has implemented more than 600 projects during this period.

In turn, Ambassador Atay said that relations between Turkey and Albania have gained important momentum, especially in recent years.

He pointed out that the two countries celebrated last year the centenary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

He pointed out that the Turkish embassy is making every effort to strengthen relations with Albania in its second centenary.

Atay concluded his speech by saying that Turkey welcomed Ramadan this year with a heavy heart because of Israeli injustice in Palestine.

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) on Thursday provided Ramadan aid to a thousand families residing in refugee camps in various Palestinian cities.

It was reported that TIKA provided food parcels on the occasion of the month of Ramadan to the Palestinian Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs for the purpose of delivering them to those entitled to them.

The social and economic difficulties facing the occupied West Bank continue as a result of years of occupation policies, the severity of which increased after October 7, 2023.

In addition to increasing unemployment and poverty, pressures and attacks are increasing on the cities of Jenin, Tulkarm, Qalqilya, Tubas, Nablus, and Ramallah, especially the refugee camps in these cities located in the West Bank.

In this context, TIKA provided Ramadan parcels containing basic food products such as oil, tomato paste, rice, flour, beans, lentils, and pasta to the Palestinian Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs for distribution to 1,000 Palestinian families living in refugee camps in various cities.

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) provided food aid to families of orphaned children in Albania.

The distribution ceremony took place in a sports hall in the capital, Tirana, on Wednesday, with the participation of the Turkish Ambassador to Albania, Pilot Kacan Atay, and TIKA’s business coordinator, Mustafa Atta.

Atay said in a speech during the event, “The month of Ramadan is a special period that brings brothers together side by side.”

He added that food parcels will be distributed to 900 needy families today.

He explained that the total number of parcels that will be distributed in different regions of the country will reach 3,500 parcels.

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) extended a hand of friendship and assistance to many countries around the world during the year 2023, through 1,326 projects and events in various fields.

TIKA, which was founded in 1992, has so far implemented more than 30,000 projects and events, 93 percent of which were after 2002.

Through these projects and events, the Turkish hand of friendship extended to the world from Palestine to Arakan, from Bosnia and Herzegovina to South Africa, from Mongolia to Latin America.

TIKA projects have contributed to strengthening Turkey’s presence in the field of global cooperation, as the number of countries in which it is active has reached 170 by 2023.

During the past year, 3,200 foreign experts benefited from the educational courses held by TIKA in various fields, while this number has approached 50,000 foreign experts since 2002.

TIKA was present in many natural disasters that occurred in 2023, in order to alleviate the victims, such as the earthquakes in Afghanistan and Pakistan and the floods in Libya and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In his speech, the president of TIKA said that they continue to implement projects in various fields around the world in line with the vision of the “Century of Turkey.”

He added that the Turkish agency contributes a major role to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.

He stated that TIKA has completed the restoration of 140 archaeological monuments in 40 countries over the past 20 years, while restoration work on 6 projects is currently ongoing.

Regarding Palestine, Kayalar explained that they implemented nearly 1,100 projects in Palestine, in addition to conducting many campaigns to distribute humanitarian aid.

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) distributed winter tents to a thousand families affected by the earthquake in Herat Province, western Afghanistan.

Arafat Deniz, coordinator of TIKA’s office in Herat, said that the agency “had previously distributed food parcels to two thousand families affected by the earthquakes that struck Herat last October.”

Deniz explained that they recently “distributed winter tents to a thousand needy families in the villages of the Zindajan region” in the state.

He also pointed out that the agency has established “10 mobile toilets in the area, and we are working to provide more assistance.”

Last October, Herat Province was exposed to a series of strong earthquakes and aftershocks, some measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale.

The Taliban government announced that about 2,500 people lost their lives and thousands more were injured as a result of earthquakes and aftershocks in the region.

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) planted 102 seedlings in Afghanistan for the victims of the earthquake disaster in southern Turkey, on the 102nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

And a ceremony was held Thursday in the Turkish-Afghan Friendship Garden located in the Paghman area of the capital, Kabul, to plant 102 pine seedlings.

The ceremony was attended by the coordinator of “TIKA” in Kabul, Fadil Akin Erdogan, the representative of the Turkish Knowledge Endowment, Ali Karagoz, the representative of the Yunus Emre Cultural Institute, Huseyin Gungor, and the deputy mayor of Kabul Mawlavi Khaled Sejestani.

Erdogan said in a speech during the ceremony that “TIKA” has been planting seedlings in Afghanistan annually since 2010, and that the new seedlings are dedicated to the earthquake victims in southern Turkey.

For his part, Sijestani expressed his deep sorrow over the disaster of the earthquake in Turkey, stressing that his country shares the pain of the Turkish people.

On February 6, two earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, followed by thousands of violent aftershocks, killing tens of thousands of people and leaving huge material damage.

On Thursday, the Turkish capital, Ankara, hosted the fourth meeting of the joint committee for economic and technical cooperation between Turkey and Thailand.

The meeting took place in the presence of Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank and Thailand’s Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai.

Varank and Pramudwinai signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between Turkey and Thailand.

The meeting also witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and the Thai Agency for International Cooperation.

In a speech during the meeting, Pramodwinay referred to his country’s consensus with Turkey on many issues around the world.

He said that the two countries can cooperate in the field of food security by mutually increasing agricultural exports and halal products.

He pointed to the possibility of cooperation in the field of renewable energy and electric cars through the private sector in both countries.

He explained that Thailand could become a production center for Turkey and that trade should be free, efficient, sustainable and balanced.

The first Turkish humanitarian aid ship arrived in the Pakistani city of Karachi, intended for flood-affected people in the country.

The Turkish ship arrived in the port of Karachi, loaded with about 900 tons of foodstuffs, blankets, winter clothes and detergents.

The ship’s handover ceremony was attended by the governor of Sindh province, Kamarn Tesori, the Turkish consul in Karachi, Jamal Sango, and officials from the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the Turkish Red Crescent and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).

Sangu said in a speech that the Turkish people stand by Pakistan and that the flood victims are not alone.

He pointed out that the second aid ship will arrive in Karachi next February.

In turn, the governor of Sindh thanked Turkey for its continuous assistance to Pakistan.

The second Turkish ship, loaded with 763 tons of humanitarian aid, is expected to arrive in Karachi on February 4.

It is noteworthy that Pakistan faced a major flood disaster last summer due to the heavy monsoon rains, which negatively affected the lives of 33 million people and caused the displacement of 8 million others.

Also, 1,700 people were killed, thousands were injured, and more than two million homes were destroyed as a result of the floods that the country witnessed, starting from June 14th.

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), in cooperation with Waqf al-Salam, supervised the completion of the construction and equipment of the Vocational Education and Youth Center in Tanzania.

The agency said in a statement on Tuesday that the vocational center located on Zanzibar Island includes housing with 40 rooms, 8 classrooms, a library and a restaurant.

The statement indicated that the agency provided all restoration equipment inside the youth center and provided cooking, carpentry and sewing supplies at the Al-Salam Vocational School.

He stated that the opening ceremony of the center took place in the presence of the Minister of Social Development, Women and Children in Zanzibar, Riziki Pemba Juma, and the Turkish Ambassador to Dar es Salaam, Mehmet Gulu Oglu.

In a speech during the ceremony, Juma expressed her thanks to Turkey and TIKA officials for supporting the project.

The minister said that the center will have great benefits for the residents of the area.

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) contributed to the restoration of a Ukrainian university in the capital, Kyiv, which was damaged by the Russian bombing.

A statement issued by TIKA on Monday stated that its contribution to the restoration of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University came in the form of its installation of shattered glass pieces for the university.

On this occasion, a ceremony was held at the university’s headquarters in the center of the capital, attended by the Turkish ambassador to Kyiv Yaghmour Ahmed Goldra, the university president Volodymyr Bogrov and the coordinator of “TIKA” in Kyiv Junaid Asmar, as well as university students and journalists.

In a speech during the ceremony, the Turkish ambassador said that his country has supported Ukraine since the outbreak of the war in late February by providing it with humanitarian aid in various fields.

He added that more than 100 aid trucks had arrived from Turkey to Ukraine since the outbreak of the war.

On February 24, Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine, which was followed by international rejection and economic sanctions on Moscow, which requires Kyiv to abandon plans to join military entities to end its operation, which the latter considers as an “interference” in its sovereignty.
