The World Health Organization warned on Thursday of a shortage of water, sanitation, and hygiene products amid overcrowding at the Emirates Crescent Maternity Hospital in the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

This came in a post accompanied by a video clip regarding the conditions inside the Emirati Crescent Maternity Hospital in Rafah, and the United Nations published it on its account via the “X” platform.

The World Health Organization said, “The reality is stark, and the overcrowded hospital is struggling to provide adequate care for newborns and mothers.”

She stressed that “the hospital suffers from a lack of water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene products, which may threaten the lives of newborns.”

Yesterday, Wednesday, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned of the consequences of any Israeli action on the city of Rafah.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving tens of thousands of civilian casualties, most of them children and women.

In addition to the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and massive destruction of infrastructure, which led to Tel Aviv appearing before the International Court of Justice to be tried on charges of genocide.

The Director General of Gaza Hospitals, Muhammad Zaqout, said on Monday that “the Israeli occupation is carrying out a direct execution of the wounded and sick in hospitals” in the Gaza Strip.

This came in press statements carried by the platforms of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip.

Zaqout explained that “the occupation has exhausted hospitals in the north and south of the Gaza Strip,” noting that “the occupation is carrying out direct executions of the wounded and sick in hospitals.”

He added: “There are 260 wounded in Al-Shifa Medical Complex (west of Gaza City), one of whom dies every day,” explaining that the Indonesian hospital, in turn, includes “thousands of displaced people and about 200 medical staff.”

Earlier Monday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced that “12 people were martyred and dozens injured” as a result of an Israeli bombing targeting the Indonesian hospital, while it was surrounded by dozens of military vehicles and artillery, according to identical testimonies.

The Palestinian Ministry warned in a statement that “the Israeli occupation forces are placing thousands of wounded, medical personnel, and displaced persons in the cycle of death as a result of the direct and repeated targeting of the Indonesian Hospital.”

For his part, spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Ashraf Al-Qudra, said in press statements that “the Israeli occupation is seeking to put the Indonesian hospital completely out of service,” while “the medical staff in the hospital insist on staying to treat the wounded.”

He added, “There are about 700 people, including medical teams and wounded, inside the Indonesian hospital,” according to what was reported on the Telegram page of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.

Al-Qudra described the situation in the Indonesian hospital as “catastrophic,” explaining that “the occupation is intensifying its attacks on the hospital and besieging it.”

He continued: “We fear that (the Israeli army) will repeat what it did to the Al-Shifa Complex,” referring to the Israeli practices aimed at evacuating the Indonesian Hospital and other hospitals in the northern and central Gaza Strip of patients, injured and displaced people.

Yesterday, a medical source at Al-Shifa Medical Complex, who requested to remain anonymous for security reasons, said, “The World Health Organization will evacuate on Monday all 250 people remaining in Al-Shifa Hospital: 25 medical staff and 225 displaced persons and patients who were unable to evacuate due to their inability to walk.” “.

At dawn last Wednesday, the Israeli army stormed the Al-Shifa complex after besieging it for days, as it contained civilians displaced from their homes as a result of the continuous Israeli bombing in the area, and forced everyone inside to evacuate during the past days.

For 45 days, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on Gaza, leaving more than 13,000 Palestinians dead, including more than 5,500 children and 3,500 women, in addition to more than 30,000 injured, 75 percent of whom are children and women, according to the government media office in Gaza.

The Director General of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital in Gaza, Sobhi Skaik, said on Thursday that 4 cancer patients lost their lives as a result of the hospital being completely out of service.

The Turkish Friendship Hospital is the only one designated for treating cancer patients in Gaza, and it is located at a point close to the area into which Israeli forces entered on Monday morning before retreating to areas close to the eastern border of the Strip.

The Turkish government funded the construction of the hospital (2011-2017), which is one of the largest hospitals in Palestine with an area of 34,800 square meters, consisting of 3 floors and containing 180 beds.

Skaik said in statements, “Four cancer patients lost their lives today as a result of the Turkish Friendship Hospital stopping and being completely out of service due to the crisis of running out of fuel.”

He added, “The deaths occurred due to the lack of necessary medical capabilities.”

He explained that “all patients (from Turkish Friendship) were transferred to Dar Al Salam Hospital in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.”

On Wednesday, the World Health Organization announced the cessation of work at the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, which specializes in treating cancer patients in the Gaza Strip.

This came in a post by the organization’s Director General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, on the “X” platform, in which he called for “urgent support to save lives.”

Ghebreyesus stated that the hospital is currently out of service due to a lack of fuel and air strikes in its vicinity.

Earlier Thursday, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned that stopping services at the main cancer hospital in the Gaza Strip due to running out of fuel would put the lives of 70 patients at risk.

Healthcare workers in the Turkish capital, Ankara, protested against the World Health Organization’s silence regarding the Israeli attacks on Gaza.

A group of health care workers gathered on Saturday in front of the World Health Organization office in Ankara.

The protesters raised banners with the phrases “There is genocide in Gaza” and “You cannot remain silent when children die.”

Specialist doctor Muhammad Ali Ekshi spoke on behalf of the group, criticizing the silence of the World Health Organization regarding what is happening in Gaza.

Ekshi addressed the organization by saying: “Why are you silent while genocide is being committed, phosphorus bombs are falling on civilians, hospitals and ambulances are being targeted, and hundreds of health care workers and doctors are losing their lives”!?

He called for the opening of a humanitarian corridor to Gaza and the immediate delivery of medical aid sent to hospitals.

For 22 days, Israel launched a military operation in the Gaza Strip, which it called “Iron Swords,” which destroyed entire neighborhoods and left 7,703 martyrs, including 3,195 children and 1,863 women, in addition to 19,743 who sustained various injuries.

During the same period, the Hamas movement killed more than 1,400 Israelis and wounded 5,132, according to the Israeli Ministry of Health. It also captured more than 220 Israelis, including high-ranking military personnel, and wants to exchange them for more than 6,000 Palestinian prisoners, including children and women.

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca discussed with World Health Organization officials the possible aid to be sent to the Gaza Strip.

This came in a post by the Turkish Minister on the “X” platform on Wednesday, in which he explained that the Turkish Ministry of Health had begun moving to provide health services in Gaza, and in this regard, it was continuing talks with international health organizations.

He added that after the “heinous attack on the National Baptist Hospital in Gaza,” he made phone calls with many international officials, including senior officials at the World Health Organization.

He stressed that the most prominent point in his talks centered on the fact that “it is not acceptable to target institutions that serve human health under any circumstances or with any justification.”

He pointed out his country’s readiness “to send a floating hospital to the region or establish field hospitals in Gaza or near the Rafah crossing to provide health services to our Palestinian brothers.”

He added that he discussed with the World Health Organization’s Regional Director for Europe, Hans Kluge, the need to support health services in the region urgently and decisively, expressing Turkey’s readiness to cooperate with it in this regard.

He stressed the historical responsibility of World Health in this regard, adding that “the director of the organization’s regional office for the Eastern Mediterranean, Ahmed Al-Mandhari, received the Turkish views positively during the call.”

On Tuesday, the spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Ashraf Al-Qudra, said that more than 500 Palestinians were killed during an Israeli bombing that targeted the courtyard of the National Arab “Baptist” Hospital in Gaza.

They had fled to the hospital and its surroundings under the weight of warnings and calls from the Israeli army to evacuate their homes.
