Turkish Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ announced on Saturday that he had made statements and collected evidence in 7,598 buildings that collapsed in the earthquake, and imprisoned 184 people as part of investigations to hold those responsible for their poor construction accountable.

Bozdağ, along with İnterior Minister Süleyman Soylu, held a press conference in Diyarbakir to inform the public about the developments of the ongoing investigations into the collapsed buildings.

Bozdağ confirmed that the rubble of any collapsed building was not removed until sufficient evidence of the cause of the collapse was collected under judicial supervision.

In this context, he explained, he collected evidence of 7,598 buildings collapsed in the earthquake, according to the latest toll, with the continuation of uncovering the rest of the collapsed buildings.

He added that the judicial authorities issued an arrest warrant against 55 suspects and ordered the detention of 184 others, including 79 contractors, pending investigations.

On February 6, a double earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, the first measuring 7.7 degrees and the second 7.6 degrees, followed by thousands of violent aftershocks, killing tens of thousands, mostly in southern Turkey, in addition to massive destruction.

Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu met on Tuesday with his Romanian counterpart, Lucian Budi, in the capital, Ankara.

Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu announced that the Coast Guard seized 44,000 immigrants during the past year 2022.

This came in a speech during the “2022 Coast Guard Leaders’ Meeting” held at the Coast Guard Command in the capital, Ankara, on Thursday.

Soylu added that the Coast Guard teams seized 44,000 irregular immigrants during the year 2022.

He indicated that the teams also seized 126 terrorists, including 117 belonging to the “Fülen” organization, 3 to “ISIS” and 6 to “PKK” while they were trying to infiltrate out of the country by sea.

He revealed that the teams saved 29,000 people from drowning during the 11 months of last year.

Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu announced Thursday the seizure of 3 tons and 533 kilograms of the narcotic methamphetamine in simultaneous security operations in Istanbul.

In a statement on Twitter, Soylu indicated that the aforementioned quantity is the largest amount seized in Turkey at one time.

He added, “After a 6-month follow-up, 3 tons and 533 kilograms of methamphetamine were seized in security operations in Istanbul between 16 and 23 November.”

Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu conducted an inspection tour in the Gul Yaqa district of Duzce province, which witnessed a 5.9-magnitude earthquake at dawn on Wednesday.

In a statement to reporters, Soylu said that the reports from the surrounding villages indicated that there were no casualties.
