According to the news agency, the Turkish president said to the ambassadors who met for a ceremony at the presidential compound in the state of Bitlis:

“Our soldiers and diplomats are working to ensure order at Kabul airport and continue the process of leaving Afghanistan. They are doing great things.”

“The process of evacuating our citizens trapped in difficult conditions in Afghanistan continues with success,” Erdogan said.

In addition to diplomatic relations with international organizations and other countries, we support the evacuation of citizens in cooperation with their diplomatic missions.

The first priority in Afghanistan must be closing the power vacuum and returning life to normal to ensure the security of the people.

He continued: “A comprehensive government must be formed in Afghanistan that reflects all segments of society.”

We are currently assessing the Taliban leaders’ message with cautious optimism. Of course, the Taliban’s actions will determine the next direction in Afghanistan.

“I must say that Turkey, which is currently hosting more than 5 million refugees from different backgrounds, cannot bear the additional burden of migration from Syria or Afghanistan,” Erdogan added.

As Turkish officials intensify their efforts to prevent the influx of refugees into the country, a number of Afghans have been able to travel through Iran for several weeks on foot to the Turkish border, past a three-meter-high wall.

The governor of the Turkish city of Van, Mehmet Emin Bilmez, told Reuters:

“We want to show the whole world that our borders are impenetrable.” Our greatest hope is that there will not be a wave of migration from Afghanistan (to our borders).

According to Turkish security forces, migrants seen crossing the border will be sent back to Iran, although most will return and try again.

“No matter how many high-profile measures we take and the security measures we do, there may still be people who occasionally run away from obstacles,” Bilmez said.

Turkish officials plan to add another 64 kilometers to the border wall with Iran, which began construction in 2017, by the end of this year.

Potholes, barbed wire and security patrols cover the remainder of the 560-kilometer border.

Turkey is not the only country that has erected barriers on its borders. Neighboring Greece also recently completed a 40-kilometer fence with a monitoring system to prevent migrants from continuing to enter Turkey in an attempt to reach the European Union.

Officials say there are 182,000 registered Afghan refugees in Turkey, and there are an estimated 120,000 unregistered Afghan refugees in the country.

In this regard, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on European countries to take responsibility for the new wave of asylum seekers and warned that Turkey does not intend to become a “repository for European migrants”.

Earlier, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said it was important to prevent a wave of migration and a humanitarian catastrophe, to send immediate aid to Afghanistan and to engage neighboring countries.

To ease the pressure, financial assistance from the United Nations and related institutions, particularly UNHCR, should be increased, and they should play a more active role in this regard.

After the irresponsible withdrawal of US and NATO forces from Afghanistan and the fall of Kabul to the Taliban, a new wave of Afghan refugees is pouring into neighboring countries.

In a new round of accusations against each other, Greece and Turkey accused each other of taking provocative measures by exploiting the migrant issue.

According to Reuters, Greece accused Turkey on Friday of trying to provoke the country by sending boats carrying migrants to Greek waters.

Greece and Turkey differ on a wide range of issues, including the energy resources in the Mediterranean, and tensions escalated last year as thousands of refugees in Turkey attempted to invade Greece’s land borders.

“There is no doubt that these immigrants left the shores of Turkey and were not in danger, given that Turkey supports them. We call on Turkey to stop this unreasonable provocation,” Greek Immigration Minister Notis Mitarashi said in a statement.

Mitarashi called on Turkey to fulfill its obligations under the agreement with the European Union.

The Greek coast guard alleges that a boat carrying migrants tried to enter Greek waters on Friday with a Turkish coast guard vessel.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said it was not aware of the incident.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense has not responded in this regard.

Turkey accuses Greece of harassing and provoking its ships in the eastern Mediterranean.

At the start of the European migration crisis in 2015, nearly a million refugees, most of them Syrians, sailed from Turkey to Greece.

A year later, the European Union agreed with Ankara to stop the flow, and the number of immigrants decreased dramatically.

European Union foreign ministers have repeatedly criticized Turkey’s decision to open its borders to asylum seekers in Europe, saying in a statement that Ankara’s decision to open its borders with Greece is in violation of the 2016 migrant agreement with the European Union.

In a meeting in Zagreb, European Union foreign ministers said in a statement that Ankara’s decision was unacceptable and condemned its use of political pressure.

The European foreign ministers also expressed their deep concern about the situation on the Greek-Turkish border and refused to use asylum seekers as a tool for political purposes.

After the European Union failed to support Turkey’s invasion of Idlib in Syria, the Ankara government implemented its threat to open its borders to displaced refugees in Europe.

On Sunday evening, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized the global economic system and called for a fairer system.

“A fairer economic order must replace the current system that is based on greed, hegemony and oppression,” the Turkish Anatolia News Agency quoted Erdogan as saying.

He continued: “The current global economic system cannot support humanity and nature.”

The President of Turkey stated, “There is no chance for the success of a system that does not serve the peoples of the world, their stability and prosperity, and does not bring them justice and security.”

Turning to the repercussions of the Coronavirus crisis, Erdogan said that the virus has deepened many issues, including poverty and inequality.

He added: “Our friends in Africa, Asia and South America face many problems, and refugees and asylum-seekers are the most vulnerable in facing the Coronavirus.

“Regardless of the economic problems, these people must deal with Islamophobia and xenophobia,” Erdogan said. “These dangerous conditions cannot be ignored, and financial support for humanitarian aid to war-torn societies must be strengthened.”

In another aspect of his speech, Turkey has hosted more than 4 million refugees, most of them Syrians, and said that the number of displaced exceeds the number of residents in many cities in Turkey.

Emphasizing his country’s support for the Libyan Government of National Accord, Erdogan said that Ankara had prevented Libya from entering the civil war under an agreement on training and advisory services.

He also referred to his country’s role in the recent Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and claimed that Ankara played a major role in ending the 30-year war.

The Greek government has announced its intention to build a 15 km wall on its border with Turkey to prevent asylum seekers and refugees from crossing into Europe.
And security sources said, Thursday, that the construction of the new wall will be completed within several weeks as a continuation of a wall built in the region earlier.
Greece installed a wall of barbed wire in the area (New Bosnia) in the city of Evros on its border with Turkey in 2012 with a length of 12.5 km.
The wall, which was erected in cooperation with the European Agency for the Control and Protection of the External Borders of the Union, is monitored by thermal cameras.
Greek media reported that the police use daily between seven hundred and a thousand tear gas canisters against asylum seekers on their land and sea borders.

The European Union called for Turkey’s support in terms of migrants and refugees on its soil.

This came in the words of European Commission President Ursula von der Line, during her speech at a press conference held on the occasion of the 100th day of her assumption of the European Commission presidency.

The European official also pointed out that the European Union should support Turkey and Greece together, regarding the burdens they bear with regard to migrants and refugees, noting that asylum seekers on the Turkish-Greek border need help.

It also called for alleviating the pressure on the Turkish-Greek border by supporting both Ankara and Athens.

The statements of the European official come ahead of a forthcoming summit in the Belgian capital, Brussels, between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and European officials, to discuss the issues of Idlib and refugees.

It is worth noting that three refugees were killed earlier by the fire of the Greek Border Guard, which prevented asylum seekers from reaching the Greek side of the border.

Last week, more than 1,700 immigrants from Turkey arrived on Lesbos Island and four other Greek islands, prompting dozens of residents of these islands to protest, cut off roads and attack cars carrying members of NGOs and journalists.

Tensions increased as far-right activists from various European countries headed to Lesbos and the Greek-Turkish border to express their refusal to allow immigrants to enter Europe, while opponents demonstrated in Lesbos and Athens several times in the past days in support of refugees.

Turkish media sources said, on Saturday, the seventh of March, that Turkey has sent medical teams to treat the wounded and injured refugees, who are lynched, and the Greek border guards.

The Turkish newspaper, “Yeni Shafak”, in statements quoted by the health administration of the Turkish border province of Edirne, said that the Turkish side sent 4 mobile ambulance tents to treat the injured asylum seekers.

The Director of Health in Edirne, “Ali Chinggis Kalkan”, told reporters that a medical cadre of 100 doctors and nurses undertook the task of treating the injured in 4 mobile tents, noting that the Greek security targets the asylum seekers with live bullets, rubber and gas canisters. The bullets sometimes hit the medical tents, and all the Turkish medical personnel continued to carry out their missions while wearing masks from the bombs.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that his country will keep its doors open to refugees wishing to go to Europe, stressing that it has no energy to absorb a new wave of immigration.
