Turkish Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç confirmed the launch of an expanded investigation into the terrorist attack that occurred in the center of the Turkish capital, Ankara, on Sunday morning.

“I strongly condemn the terrorist attack, and an expanded investigation will be conducted in all its aspects in coordination with the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions in charge of the incident,” Tunç said in a post on social media.

He added, “This attack will in no way hinder Turkey’s fight against terrorism. Our fight against terrorism will continue with greater determination. No one should doubt this.”

Tunç wished a speedy recovery to the two security personnel who were slightly injured in the attack.

On Sunday morning, two terrorists arrived in a small commercial car in front of the entrance to the General Directorate of Security of the Ministry of Interior, and carried out an attack, according to a statement by Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.

According to Yerlikaya, one of the terrorists blew himself up while security forces were able to neutralize the other.

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the deportation of 42,875 irregular immigrants between June 1 and September 22 of this year.

This came in response to journalists’ questions following a Turkish government meeting in the presidential complex in the capital, Ankara.

He pointed out that 97,363 irregular immigrants were arrested since he assumed his duties in early June until September 22.

He pointed out that 105,488 foreigners left the country whose visas and residency expired.

He stated that the previous numbers do not include cross-border infiltration attempts by the Ministry of Defense, which numbered 70,796.

Regarding the countries from which most irregular migrants come, the minister stated that they are coming across the Iranian border from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

In this context, Yerlikaya reported that the Ministry of Interior will begin activating the application of mobile immigration offices throughout Turkey, starting next November 1.

He touched on the importance of the application by saying: “We will check people’s identities everywhere, including football matches. However, if we take a tourist or a foreigner who has a residence permit and does not have an identity card or a passport, we will not send him to the deportation centers. We succeeded in that through the application.” The experimental trial, which lasted 9 weeks in Istanbul.

He continued: “We need to move keeping in mind the zero error, because we are a tourist country.”

Regarding the workers in the mobile immigration offices, Yerlikaya said: “Our immigration experts and translators work at the center, who will provide communication with foreigners.”

In another context, Yerlikaya revealed a visit by Bulgarian Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov to Turkey on October 10.

He pointed to mutual cooperation between Turkey, Bulgaria and Greece to combat irregular migration by land and sea.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that the gendarmerie command in Muğla and Çanakkale had arrested 19 people suspected of organizing migrant smuggling operations.

It indicated that the police chiefs in the provinces of Muğla and Çanakkale carried out an operation to combat organized smugglers.

The Turkish Interior Ministry announced the surrender of a terrorist who had escaped from the ranks of the PKK organization “through persuasion.”

The ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that a terrorist fled the organization and surrendered to the security forces as a result of persuasion efforts carried out by the Gendarmerie General Command teams and the General Directorate of Security.

She explained that the terrorist joined the “PKK” in 2005 and was active in the ranks of the organization in Iraq.

The number of terrorists who surrendered during the current year through persuasion rose to 103.

Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu announced on Sunday the start of security operations “Arn Siege” for the fall and winter of 2022-2023.
