Turkish security forces in the western province of Kırıkkale arrested 114 irregular immigrants during the first week of December.

This came during patrols carried out by the Gendarmerie Command teams in the aforementioned state during the period from December 1 to 7.

The authorities in Muğla state, western Turkey, arrested 2,103 irregular immigrants within 15 days.

The state reported that the security, gendarmerie and coast guard teams carried out simultaneous operations in Muğla from 16 to 31 October last year as part of combating irregular migration.

It explained in a statement on Thursday that the operations resulted in the arrest of 2,103 irregular immigrants who were handed over to the state Immigration Directorate.

The operations also resulted in the arrest of 42 people suspected of smuggling migrants.

The judicial authorities decided to arrest 28 of the 42 suspects and release the rest and place them under judicial supervision.

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the deportation of 42,875 irregular immigrants between June 1 and September 22 of this year.

This came in response to journalists’ questions following a Turkish government meeting in the presidential complex in the capital, Ankara.

He pointed out that 97,363 irregular immigrants were arrested since he assumed his duties in early June until September 22.

He pointed out that 105,488 foreigners left the country whose visas and residency expired.

He stated that the previous numbers do not include cross-border infiltration attempts by the Ministry of Defense, which numbered 70,796.

Regarding the countries from which most irregular migrants come, the minister stated that they are coming across the Iranian border from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

In this context, Yerlikaya reported that the Ministry of Interior will begin activating the application of mobile immigration offices throughout Turkey, starting next November 1.

He touched on the importance of the application by saying: “We will check people’s identities everywhere, including football matches. However, if we take a tourist or a foreigner who has a residence permit and does not have an identity card or a passport, we will not send him to the deportation centers. We succeeded in that through the application.” The experimental trial, which lasted 9 weeks in Istanbul.

He continued: “We need to move keeping in mind the zero error, because we are a tourist country.”

Regarding the workers in the mobile immigration offices, Yerlikaya said: “Our immigration experts and translators work at the center, who will provide communication with foreigners.”

In another context, Yerlikaya revealed a visit by Bulgarian Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov to Turkey on October 10.

He pointed to mutual cooperation between Turkey, Bulgaria and Greece to combat irregular migration by land and sea.

A Turkish court decided to imprison eight people suspected of carrying out provocative acts and incitement on social media platforms against refugees and irregular migrants.

A statement issued by the Ankara Police on Saturday said that the Security Branch Directorate, the Anti-Cybercrime Department, and the Intelligence Department began joint investigations against accounts that engage in provocations and incitement to hatred on social media sites.

The statement added that the security teams identified 27 accounts that shared posts urging mutual hatred on social media, including opposing refugees and immigrants and inciting hostility towards the Turks in front of public opinion.

The Turkish Public Prosecution opened an investigation against the suspects on charges of “inciting the people to hatred and hostility” and “spreading misleading information publicly.”

The statement indicated that the Public Prosecution interrogated the 27 suspects and decided to refer 23 of them to justice and released four.

In turn, the court decided to imprison eight of the detainees and release 15 of them on the condition that they be banned from traveling and placed under judicial supervision.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed that his country had intensified measures against human smugglers and prevented the entry of hundreds of thousands of irregular migrants.

The Presidency of the Turkish Immigration Department revealed that the total number of immigrants present throughout the country has reached 4,893,753 people to date.

In a statement on Sunday, it added that the percentage of immigrants in 1,169 neighborhoods across Turkey has so far exceeded 20 percent of the total number of Turkish residents in those neighborhoods.

The statement stated that in order to reduce the concentration of residents there, the door to register new foreigners in those neighborhoods was closed.

On Saturday, Turkey sent 139 irregular immigrants with Afghan nationality to their country via an air flight.

The plane took off from Esenboga Airport in Ankara, heading to Afghanistan.
