The head of the Turkish Presidency’s Communications Department, Fahrettin Altun, condemned the Israeli attack that targeted a team affiliated with the official Turkish “TRT Arabi” television in the Gaza Strip.

This was stated in a post on his account on the X platform.

Altun pointed out that the Israeli occupation’s deliberate targeting of journalists during its attacks on the Gaza Strip continues unabated.

He stated that the “TRT Arabi” team’s car, which was preparing to broadcast in the Nuseirat camp in Gaza, was subjected to an air attack by the Israeli army.

Altun confirmed that independent photojournalist Sami Shehadeh was critically injured in the attack and underwent surgery, while “TRT Arabi” correspondent Sami Barhoum survived without injury.

He said: “We condemn this despicable attack. It is terrorism. This terrorism must stop and the Western world must oppose this brutality as soon as possible.”

Altun explained that Israel targets journalists and attacks the freedom of the press to prevent seeing its massacres.

He stressed that the international community’s indifference to these attacks encourages Israel.

He added: “Enough is enough. The international community must take action against the brutality that is happening before our eyes.”

Altun said that those who remain silent in the face of these systematic attacks are complicit in the crime of genocide committed by Israel.

He continued: “I once again condemn the Israeli attacks targeting journalists in Gaza.”

Altun expressed his wishes for a speedy recovery to photographer Sami Shehadeh and his condolences to the TRT family.

In a related context, the Director General of the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), Muhammad Zahid Subaji, said that criminal Israel targeted the car of the “TRT Arab” team.

Subaji expressed his regret over the loss of his foot by freelance photographer Sami Shehadeh as a result of the attack, stressing that correspondent Sami Barhoum’s health is good.

He added: “I condemn Israeli brutality, which has no moral, legal or humanitarian limits.”

On Friday, the Israeli army targeted a TRT Arabi channel team while it was working as a journalist in the Nuseirat camp.

The channel reported that the attack resulted in cameraman Sami Shehadeh sustaining injuries described as moderate to serious, and the amputation of his foot. Reporter Sami Barhoum also sustained minor injuries.

Eid al-Fitr fell on Gaza this year, while Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Strip since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 100,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly, according to Palestinian and UN data.

Israel continues the war despite the Security Council issuing an immediate ceasefire resolution, and despite its first appearance before the International Court of Justice on charges of committing “genocide.”

The head of the Turkish Presidency’s Communications Department, Fahrettin Altun, confirmed that media misinformation has gained a dimension that now threatens global security and peace.

This came in an assessment he submitted to the digital news platform “Fokusplus” regarding combating disinformation activities related to the Israeli attacks on Gaza and Tel Aviv’s pressure on Western media.

Altun stressed that the problem of media misinformation must be addressed through comprehensive international cooperation and not through each country taking its own measures individually.

He pointed out that the mission of the Center for Combating Media Misinformation, affiliated with the Presidency of the Communications Department, is not limited to Turkey, but rather has regional and international dimensions.

He continued: “For example, Israel is trying to justify the massacres it has committed in Gaza since October 7 and polarize international public opinion through misinformation and false information.”

He added: “But we faced the storm of lies unleashed by Israel. We exposed nearly 200 dangerous misinformation attempts through the special Palestine bulletins that we published.”

He explained that all the Israeli lies that were exposed through the Media Disinformation Center were presented to international public opinion and became a reference for prosecuting Israel in international courts.

Altun pointed out that Israel has been carrying out a systematic activity in media disinformation since the beginning of its attacks on the Gaza Strip.

He stressed that Israel is trying to obscure its practices and occupation of the Palestinian territories through misinformation, indicating that the hybrid threats and misleading information issued by Israel target world public opinion.

He continued: “It is necessary to see that Western media institutions’ adoption of the Israeli narrative destroys the independence and impartiality of these institutions.”

He added: “Today the number of Palestinians killed in Gaza has reached 30,000, but these people are not talked about as much as there is misleading information such as ‘headless children’, even though this news later turned out to be false.”

Altun praised the work of Anadolu Agency and the TRT channel, which seek to uncover the course of events in Gaza and convey the facts to world public opinion.

Since October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving tens of thousands of civilian victims, most of them children and women, a humanitarian catastrophe, massive destruction of infrastructure, and famine in a number of areas, which led to Tel Aviv being brought before the International Court of Justice on charges of “genocide.”

The head of the Turkish Presidency’s Communications Department, Fahrettin Altun, said on Sunday that defending Gaza holds great importance for the future of humanity.

This came at the TRT International Documentary Awards ceremony in Istanbul.

Altun stressed that “telling the truth and being faithful to it also carries great importance.”

He added, “What will lead our world to a more just, more livable, and more stable future is truth first and foremost.”

He continued, “When we look at the world today, we find that climate change and the deterioration of the natural balance have become a reality, and armed conflicts and many massacres and wars have also become a reality at the local and regional levels.”

Altun pointed out that “killing humanity with Muslims in Gaza and bombing peace, brotherhood, tranquility and stability around the world with the bombing of Palestine is unfortunately a sad reality.”

He added, “No matter how we look at the matter, the truth is that Israel is committing a major war crime, committing genocide, and has killed nearly 20,000 innocent people indiscriminately in front of the eyes of the whole world for more than two months.”

Altun said, “Despite all this, there is another truth, which is the attempt of some parties (he did not name them), with their media power and the misleading information they produce, to drag humanity into a catastrophe by distorting the facts and mixing truth with falsehood and vice versa.”

He stressed that “promoting truth and the link between truth and humanity is extremely important and a vital element for our future.”

The head of the Presidency’s Communications Department stressed the importance of adopting the correct human position and location when it comes to Gaza.

He concluded by saying: “It is very important to defend Gaza in terms of the future of humanity, to stand against injustice in Gaza, to point out the oppressor, and to reveal and show all injustice from generation to generation through artistic production.”

Head of the Turkish Presidency’s Communications Department, Fahrettin Altun, said that the Athens Declaration on friendly and good-neighborly relations between Turkey and Greece opened a new page in their relations.

This came in a video message in which he participated on Tuesday in the Turkish-Greek Media and Academy Forum, organized in cooperation between the Turkish Studies Endowment and the Greek Institute of International Affairs (IGA) in the capital, Athens.

Altun touched on the official visit made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Athens on December 7, and said: “I believe that we have opened a new page in our relations thanks to the Athens Declaration on friendly relations and good neighborliness.”

He expressed his belief that the joint will of the two countries will create many cooperation opportunities that will be beneficial to them and the region on the basis of mutual trust.

He continued: “We believe that Turkey does not have insurmountable problems with our close neighbors such as Greece, with which we share a common history and similar culture.”

Altun pointed out that there are many opportunities and possibilities to increase bilateral cooperation in many fields such as economy, trade, transportation, energy, health, technology, education, and youth, and that he is very happy about that.

He stressed that the channels of communication between the two countries are open, noting that media professionals, academics, and representatives of non-governmental organizations have a great duty and responsibility to keep them open.

He stated that it is a great task and responsibility for media professionals, academics and representatives of non-governmental organizations to keep communication channels open between the two countries.

“In recent years, many ethical principles and many established rules in the field of communication and media have been attempted to be removed from the agenda and discredited,” he added.

He called for building a new approach in the field of communications and media and standing by the truth against such attempts.

On December 7, Turkey and Greece signed the “Athens Declaration on Friendly and Good Neighborly Relations” during Erdogan’s visit to Athens.

The announcement stated: “Turkey and Greece decide to hold ongoing and constructive consultations on political dialogue, a positive agenda, and confidence-building measures.”

The head of the Turkish Presidency’s Communications Department, Fahrettin Altun, confirmed on Saturday that eliminating misinformation and hybrid threats lies in the combined efforts of actors with a global conscience.

Altun’s speech came at the conclusion of the International Summit on Strategic Communication in Istanbul.

He expressed his satisfaction with the success of the summit in its third edition, which was held in Istanbul over two days.

He also thanked the summit participants coming from 30 countries, where they discussed ways to combat hybrid threats that threaten the entire world.

“As strategic communicators, we must cooperate effectively against hybrid threats that target individuals, communities, cultures, countries and democracies,” he said.

Altun pointed out that everyone agrees on the extent of the risks and threats that humanity faces in the current period.

According to Altun, our greatest strength is the strength of the living conscience of actors, as the global conscience is our basic foundation.

He expressed his belief, as strategic liaisons, in the possibility of creating a “line of resistance” against proxy wars, political manipulation, elements of economic pressure, irregular migration, manipulation of international law, the information race, and disinformation wars that stand out before the world as hybrid threats.

He added: “With all global actors of conscience supporting this path, we hope to destroy the wheel of oppression in the world through understanding and struggle focused on truth and justice.”

“For this reason, we will first raise awareness and then organize ourselves on a global level, and through effective coordination we will combat lies, disinformation and hybrid threats,” Altun said.

Head of the Turkish Presidency’s Communications Department, Fahrettin Altun, said Thursday that his country is determined to do everything in its power to bring peace despite Israel’s systematic war and deception campaigns, stressing that “Turkey will never abandon Palestine.”

Altun said in a statement on his social media account that he was not surprised by the attempts of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Foreign Minister Eli Cohen to divert attention from the war crimes they committed against civilians.

He added: “In parallel with the Israeli government spreading misleading information about its attacks on the Palestinians, its senior leaders are now spreading lies about Turkey.”

Altun stressed that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was not and will never be afraid to speak the truth.

“No amount of disinformation can hide the facts, and as a politician who has built his decades-long career on destroying any chance for peace, it is clear that Netanyahu cannot bear to hear the truth about his pointless war targeting Palestinian civilians,” Altun asserted.

Altun said, “Netanyahu and others like him are extremist elements who committed occupation, ethnic cleansing, and war crimes. They have no interest in building peace in the region and will continue to press for war whenever they have the opportunity. Despite Israeli politicians’ insistence on the continuation of violence, the world must act now to ensure peace.” the permanent”.

Altun also stressed “the need to unite for a just and equitable peace and deprive them of these evil ambitions. We once again condemn the crimes committed by Israeli politicians against Palestinian civilians. They have already lost to public opinion, and they cannot hide this fact by attacking our leadership with lies and slander.”

He continued: “We are determined to do everything we can for peace despite Israel’s systematic campaigns of incitement to war and misinformation. Turkey will never abandon Palestine.”

Head of the Turkish Presidency’s Communications Department, Fahrettin Altun, said that Turkey has become a “decision maker and a leading country in the region” as it enters the second century of the Republic.

This came in an article by Altun under the title “Erdogan’s Turkey offers solutions when the United Nations fails,” published in Atalayar, a political magazine based in Spain on Saturday.

Altun stressed that “Turkey effectively uses modern tools for interaction between countries, such as public diplomacy, as well as humanitarian aid and diplomatic channels to solve global and regional problems.”

Altun pointed to Turkey’s role in regional issues and the required reform in the United Nations mechanism.

He explained that Turkey “was founded in the shadow of an unprecedented war of independence at the beginning of the twentieth century,” and last October 29, it celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of its republic.

He explained that the republic was founded on the principles of national sovereignty as a result of the War of Independence, “in which the Turkish people won with their determination and valor.”

He pointed out that Turkey’s preservation of its unity and unity in its nearby region, which has witnessed many turmoil and conflicts during the last century, “indicates the extent of its strength and great capabilities.”

He stressed that “the republic, which was reborn under the leadership of the warrior Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, is progressing steadily towards its lofty goals, which include the renaissance, revival, and building of the Turkish nation and state in accordance with the requirements of the modern era.”

– Will of the people

According to Altun, “The goal of Turkish modernity requires a series of political, economic, and legal changes and transformations, as Turkey shows a firm will and desire to achieve these goals, despite attempts to deviate from this path from time to time through internal and external interventions over a century.”

He pointed to the improvement of the level of democratic and legal institutions and standards in the country and the launch of economic and social development initiatives.

In this context, the head of the Communications Department stressed “overcoming the guardianship mechanisms that came into effect from time to time to form an obstacle to the manifestation of national sovereignty in the full sense, through the Turkish people preserving their will at the ballot boxes and in the squares.”

He explained that the most important aspect of the Turkish people’s preservation of their will against attempts to usurp their will is their response to them at the first opportunity through the ballot boxes, and the position they expressed towards the coup attempt on July 15.

He added, “Trust in the will of the people is a necessary, but not sufficient, condition for establishing the modern republic, as Turkey must keep pace with the times in terms of economic, legal, and democratic standards.”

He said, “Fair and transparent elections, which are held under the supervision of senior judges and enjoy widespread support from the general public, constitute an important indicator of the standard of democratic transformation in Turkey.”

“Over time, democratic participation and respect for the will of the ballot boxes became more deeply rooted in Turkey,” according to Altun.

On the other hand, Altun stressed the need to “build a prosperous Turkey in its second centenary after it completed in its first century investments in infrastructure and in the areas of culture and political and legal norms.”

He stressed that Turkey’s achievements in the field of infrastructure in recent years under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have become “the cornerstone of a prosperous Turkey.”

He explained that the most important result of investments in infrastructure at the local level is an increase in social welfare, as, according to Altun, Turkey will be able to benefit from the advantages granted to it by its strategic location thanks to these investments.

“In a world where international trade and production centers and especially supply chains are rapidly changing and transforming, Turkey’s strategic geopolitical position is attracting more attention from all over the world,” Altun added.

– Turkey is a decision-maker and a leading country in its region

He stressed that “a strong Turkey with advanced infrastructure will have a greater role in the region, and with the achievements it has achieved in recent years, Turkey has gained respect in international balances, and continues successfully in decision-making on regional issues, especially in the Middle East and the Caucasus.”

“An indication of this is the solution-based political position that was recently put forward towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and it highlights the humanitarian dimension of the issue,” Altun stressed.

Regional issues, including Ukraine and the Azerbaijani Karabakh region, also show, according to Altun, that “Turkey has become a decision-maker and a leading country in its region as the republic enters its second century.”

He stressed that international organizations such as the United Nations Security Council “failed to solve global problems and even exacerbated the problems.”

In this context, he stressed the necessity of establishing international organizations in light of the requirements of the new century and the new period, taking into account the new balances.

According to Altun, Turkey is preparing for “multi-polar and multi-party international conditions, in line with President Erdogan’s slogan: The world is greater than five.”

He stressed that Turkey effectively uses modern tools for interaction between countries, such as public diplomacy, as well as humanitarian and diplomatic channels to solve global and regional problems.

The head of the Turkish Presidency’s Communications Department, Fahrettin Altun, said on Sunday that “Israel’s inhumane and illegal actions led to systematic massacres.”

In a speech at the “Humanitarian Film Festival” organized by the “TRT World Citizen” platform in Istanbul, the festival “sheds light through the power of art on millions who suffer from pain and despair.”

He stressed that “only societies and groups that fit the Western definition of humanity promise peace and prosperity.”

He pointed out that millions of people have been killed and forced to leave their homes due to wars and violent conflicts at the present time.

He said that data from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees until the middle of this year show that nearly 110 million people in the world have been forcibly displaced for various reasons.

Altun stressed that 76 percent of refugees around the world seeking international protection for various reasons are hosted by low- and middle-income countries.

“While developed countries that enjoy higher levels of prosperity constantly avoid taking responsibility for the aforementioned crisis,” the head of the Communications Department added.

According to data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), according to Altun, the number of homeless people in the United States alone is about 600,000 people.

He pointed out that children are forced to carry weapons and are recruited into the ranks of terrorist organizations such as the PKK/YPG and ISIS and taken to the battle fronts. Likewise, children are forced to work in major companies for the sake of achieving more profits. “They represent another tragedy that reveals the situation.” current humanity in the world.

– Not the “Palestinian problem, but the “Israeli problem”

Altun described what is happening in the Gaza Strip as “one of the most severe humanitarian tragedies taking place at the present time,” highlighting the “inhumane Israeli actions and systematic massacre” against the Palestinians.

He said: “We are now at a stage where we can say to the world that has been calling the ‘Palestinian problem’ for years that its name is the ‘Israeli problem’. Not the Middle East and our region, but the entire world is facing this problem.”

He pointed out that some countries had the courage to confront the “Israeli problem,” saying: “As long as the Israeli problem continues to be ignored, this crisis will worsen over time, grow, and constitute a threat to humanity.”

Altun called for the use of art, such as cinematic films, and literature, such as novels, to “convey the message of pain and suffering to the oppressed and persecuted, and not to be satisfied with numbers and statistics prepared by international institutions, despite their importance.”

He pointed to the initiatives made by Turkey in many geographical regions through its humanitarian foreign policy.

He pointed out that these initiatives “will be recorded in history as extremely valuable contributions to establishing peace, justice, stability and security at the regional and international levels.”

Altun highlighted the importance of the hundreds of films submitted from all over the world to participate in the “Humanitarian Film Festival” organized by the “TRT World Citizen” platform, offering his thanks to everyone who contributed to the festival.
